TODOs

  • [marvin] create/apply a Renoise CSS skin for the Wiki
  • [marvin + taktik] swap over all content, starting with the Reference. Pages which are done, are simply getting linked here.
  • [taktik] review all content -> add [T] when done, making sure its technically "correct"
  • [duncan] review all content again -> add [D] when done
  • [all] create final structure, main page, final proof reading - to be discussed as soon as all the main content was converted
  • [???] cross link all pages where suitable, add "next", "prev" markers at the end of the pages so one doesn't have to go back to the main page every time...
  • [???] test PDF conversion, create a PDF file

Conversion Guide

  • Drag contents of the [Old Wiki] into OpenOffice, export as Media Wiki text, create new pages here. Note that OpenOffice sometimes randomly skips images when exporting!
  • Keep image names and other media content intact, keep old page titles if possible
    • Scale images to 800 pixels this way: [[Image:vvoois_renoise_midi_mapping_4.png|thumb|800px|none]]
The Thumb-mode unfortunately creates a frame, for a frameless image use:[[Image:vvoois_renoise_midi_mapping_4.png|frameless|800px|none]].
Do note that the lightbox / greybox overlay image won't be working on frameless type images. (yet, Marvin / Paul? ;))
    • Or create a better title and redirect the old one http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Redirect
  • Quickstart & Video Tutorial from the main Renoise page will be used, linked here later, so we don't need to copy them from the old Wiki.

Page Structure

Every reference page should be dedicated to a visual component (Instrument Selector, Mixer, Preferences and so on)

  1. Overview with main picture of what we're talking about, small introduction, explain main concepts, what this is, what its for and so on
  2. List alike description of all components, more detailed screen shots when needed
  3. Walk throughs, guides on "how to do things" (i.g: loading, setting up and playing a VST, creating a drum kit)
  4. Tips and tricks (non obvious stuff)
  5. Keyboard shortcuts (most important ones)
  6. Links to related pages

Some inspiration from other tutorials/manuals: [Fruity Loops] [Reason PDF] [Ableton Live PDF] [Notion PDF]

IMPORTANT: Once you've added a page, link it from main page (this page), so we know whats already done
