Trouble-shooting→Software→Renoise→General→Renoise doesn’t start on Windows

Renoise requires a CPU that supports SSE, without it, Renoise shall not start neither log.
There is a range of Mobile CPU’s that have SSE disabled by default.
Known are the SSE feature of the AMD Athlon and Duron Mobile series which are disabled.
You can turn them on using the WCPUID tool from H. Oda that you can find here.

If you don’t have an AMD specific model but still want to know if it supports SSE you can also try Franck Delattre’s CPU-Z. It might be an option you can set in the BIOS as well, so check it out.
SSE was implemented since the Intel Pentium III and AMD Athlon 4 CPU ranges.
The reason why they are disabled by default on certain AMD chips is the operation of 3DNow and Enhanced 3DNow which for AMD is the preferred prefetch method (which is similar to SSE technique but not the same).
