Performance problems concerning CPU drivers

CPU powersaving
If you own a laptop that has a speedstepping CPU or a Powernow CPU or any CPU that is being controlled by a driver that can control it to save powerconsumption, you may experience lag or shocking behaviour of the application. Certain behaviour specially kicks in when a laptop is running on battery power. When running on AC-power the problems are much less appearant or not arising at all.
The cause can be stopped by replacing the special CPU driver for a generic CPU driver that does not support this function. or disabling the driver totally in the computermanagement.

Hyperthreading
If you own a CPU that supports hyperthreading, CPU consumption and performance of Renoise can degrade tremendously. Though Renoise can deactivate hyperthreading for most CPU’s (You can find a “Disabled hyperthreading” entry in the C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Renoise\V[version release]\lLog.txt if Renoise detected an active HT environment), though if this doesn’t happen, in most cases you can disable this in the BIOS or use a generic CPU driver instead.
