Scopes

The Scopes provide you with a couple of graphical representations of the audio output, with the exception of MIDI, but more about this later.

Spectrum

A spectrum represents the relative amounts of different frequency components in any signal. It’s like the display on the graphic-equalizer in your stereo, which has LEDs showing the relative amounts of bass, midrange, and treble. These correspond directly to increasing frequencies (treble being the high frequency components).

Master scopes
The master scopes display the master output oscillation of the left and right output channels.

Track scopes

The track-scopes display an oscillator for each track in the song. For every VST or sample instrument used, a wave-oscillation is displayed. For MIDI instruments, a red dot in the lower-right corner of the oscillator is lit up for each sent signal. The stronger the amplification power, the stronger the light.

Also, any combination of MIDI, VST instruments, and samples may occur in one track and are shown in the oscillator. The lower-left corner contains the track number, while the upper part contains the track name, which is manually adjustable in the pattern-editor. If the track is routed to a send-track, you will notice a less-than sign behind the tracknumber, and behind that sign you will find the number of the send-track which the audio signal is being sent to. Each send-track can also be assigned individual names, just like all the other tracks.

There are a few mouse controls that can be used in the track scopes:

  • You can individually toggle tracks on/off with the left mouse button.
  • You can solo / unsolo a track by right-clicking its related track-oscillator.
  • You can scroll through the tracks by using the scroll-wheel (the track that contains the keyboard cursor will be highlighted in the related scope). Note that each subtrack will be scrolled to when scrolling upon the track-scopes.

If you have set the track-function to Mute in the preferences rather than OFF, the scope will show a Mute instead of OFF
